What Is Actually Going Wrong?

Plumbing problems fall into a handful of buckets, and the right first move is different for each one. Find yours below.

  • Water you cannot stop. Close the main shutoff, then call. The first five minutes matter more than anything else.
  • More than one fixture backing up. That is the main line, not a drain. Stop running water and read sewer line services.
  • One slow drain. A local clog. See drain cleaning, and if it keeps returning, here is why.
  • No hot water, or not enough. Usually one failed component, not a failed tank. Check these first.
  • Scale, spotting and stiff laundry. That is hardness. Start at water softeners.
  • A bill that jumped with no explanation. Watch the meter with everything closed. Slab leak signs.

Water Softeners

A water softener removes the calcium and magnesium that make water hard, using ion exchange. It matters in Las Vegas because the Las Vegas Valley Water District reports valley water at 291 parts per million, or 17 grains per gallon, which it classes as very hard.

Plumbing Repair

Plumbing repair covers the everyday failures in a home water system: dripping fixtures, running toilets, failed shutoff valves, weak pressure and noisy pipes. Most are small parts that fail on a schedule.

Water Heater Repair

Water heater repair covers the parts that fail before the tank does: thermostats, elements, gas control valves, thermocouples, dip tubes and relief valves. Most no hot water calls are a failed component rather than a failed tank, and the difference is worth thousands..

Emergency Plumbing

A plumbing emergency is any failure that is actively damaging the building or has made it unsafe to use: a burst line, a leak you cannot stop, a sewage backup, or no water at all. The first move is yours, not ours.

Hard water, the local problem

291 Parts Per Million Is Not An Opinion

The Las Vegas Valley Water District publishes the figure directly: valley water is 291 parts per million, or 17 grains per gallon, categorised as very hard. The source is Colorado River water delivered through Lake Mead.

That single number explains the scaled shower door, the spotted glassware, the faucet cartridge that failed in three years, and the water heater that runs out of hot water halfway through the second shower. It is an aesthetic and equipment problem rather than a health one, and the district says so plainly.

It is also why water softeners are a larger part of what we do here than they would be almost anywhere else.

How it works

How A Job Runs, Start To Finish

  1. Tell us what is happeningWhat is wrong, what you have already shut off, and how many fixtures are affected. Those answers decide what goes on the truck.
  2. Diagnosis before a quoteThe actual cause gets found first. A gauge reading, a camera, a hardness test, whatever the problem calls for, rather than a guess with a price attached.
  3. The price, in writing, before work startsYou agree the number first. Where repair and replacement are both reasonable, you see both, along with the reason each might be the better call.
  4. The work, then the proofTested under real conditions rather than declared finished. Anything found along the way gets its own number and your word before it happens.

Answers Before You Call

Plain explanations of the problems Las Vegas homes actually have, written so you can work out what you are dealing with.

Do I Need A Water Softener? explained

A water softener is worth it in Las Vegas if your complaint is scale: crust on fixtures, spotted glassware, soap that will not lather and water heaters losing capacity. It is not the answer to a taste complaint, a pressure complaint or a health concern, and it only works if it is maintained..

No Hot Water explained

No hot water usually means one component failed rather than the whole heater. On an electric unit the most common cause is a tripped high limit reset or a failed element.

Questions

Common Questions

How hard is the water in Las Vegas?

The Las Vegas Valley Water District reports valley water at 291 parts per million, or 17 grains per gallon, and classes it very hard. That mineral load is what scales fixtures, fills water heaters with sediment and shortens the life of appliances across the valley.

Do you service water softeners you did not install?

Yes, all makes and models. Repair, replacement and maintenance, including units installed by someone else. Have the brand and model number on hand when you call.

What areas do you cover?

Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson, Summerlin, North Summerlin, Spring Valley, Enterprise, Paradise and Centennial Hills, plus the wider Clark County service area. Every one has its own page listing what we commonly work on there.

How does pricing work?

You get the price before the work starts. Nothing additional happens without a separate number and your agreement first. We do not publish a price list, because a real quote depends on what is actually wrong.

Is my problem an emergency?

If water is escaping and you cannot stop it, if waste is coming back into the building, or if a water heater is leaking from the tank body, yes. Close the main shutoff first, then call. A single slow drain or a dripping faucet is not an emergency, and you can still call. The line is open 24 hours a day.

Do you work on commercial property?

Yes. Restaurants, offices, retail and multi unit residential, scheduled around your business hours rather than whenever a van is free.
