Water Treatment For Las Vegas Homes
Water treatment gets sold as one thing and it is actually three. Softening removes the minerals that cause scale. Filtration removes taste, odor and particulates. Drinking water systems treat the small amount you actually drink. Knowing which problem you have is the difference between solving it and buying equipment.

The short answer
Water treatment is the general term for changing what is in your water before it reaches your fixtures. In Las Vegas the dominant problem is hardness: the Las Vegas Valley Water District reports 291 parts per million, or 17 grains per gallon, which it classes as very hard. Softening and filtration solve different problems and are often combined.

How it runs
How The Work Goes
- Understand the complaintScale, taste, spotting and dry skin point at different solutions.
- Assess the water and the plumbingIncluding where equipment can physically go and whether a drain and power are available.
- Explain what each option does and does not doA softener does not improve taste. A carbon filter does not stop scale.
- Quote the options separatelySo you can choose rather than being sold a package.
What it costs
What Moves The Price
We do not publish a price list, because a real number depends on what is actually wrong. What we can tell you is exactly what the quote will turn on.
- Which problem you are solving: scale, taste, particulates or all three
- Available space, drain access and power at the installation point
- Household size, which sets the capacity of a softener
- Whether existing equipment can be serviced rather than replaced
How the estimate works. The cause gets diagnosed first, then you get the price for the work before it starts. Where repair and replacement are both reasonable, you see both numbers rather than one.
The service call. The diagnostic and callout policy is quoted on the phone before anyone is dispatched, including whether it is credited toward the work. Ask when you call, and you will get a straight answer rather than a figure invented for a web page.

The Questions People Actually Ask
Is Las Vegas water safe to drink?
The Las Vegas Valley Water District publishes annual water quality reports and states that hardness is an aesthetic issue rather than a health one. Treatment here is about scale, taste and appliance life, not safety, and we will not tell you otherwise to sell equipment.
Do I need a softener, a filter, or both?
They solve different problems. If your complaint is scale and spotting, that is softening. If it is taste and odor, that is filtration. Plenty of homes want both, and they are quoted separately so you can see what each costs.
Will treatment fix my existing scale?
No. Treatment stops new scale forming. What is already deposited inside a water heater or on a fixture stays there until it is removed.
Are salt free conditioners as good as a softener?
They work differently. A conditioner alters how minerals crystallise rather than removing them, so hardness readings do not drop. If your goal is a measurable reduction in hardness, that is a softener, and you should know the distinction before you buy either.

Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
How hard is Las Vegas water?
The Las Vegas Valley Water District reports 291 parts per million, or 17 grains per gallon, and classes it very hard. The source is Colorado River water by way of Lake Mead.
Does a water softener remove chlorine?
No. Softening removes hardness minerals. Chlorine taste and odor are a carbon filtration job, which is why the two are often installed together.
What does reverse osmosis do?
It treats the small volume you drink and cook with, reducing dissolved solids. It is a drinking water system, not a whole house solution.
Do you service equipment you did not install?
Yes, all makes and models. Have the brand and model on hand when you call.
Will treatment help my appliances last longer?
Reducing scale reduces the mineral load that accumulates in water heaters, dishwashers and washing machines. Actual appliance life depends on many things, so we will not promise a number.
Does the water district recommend softeners?
It lists household softening among the options for hardness and does not endorse any brand or model. It also notes that home treatment systems have to be maintained or they can reduce drinking water quality.
